NAIROBI Matthew Stafford Lions Jersey , Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Playing for the Kenya national seven-a-side rugby team has been described as one of the hardest jobs one can do for Kenya.

Mwangi Muthee, the chairman of Kenya Rugby Union said on Thursday making it to the Kenyan Sevens Rugby side is no mean feat and is not for the faint-hearted.

"Pride and glory is what drives members of the squad. By 4am when most are still asleep, the players are already up and training in the gym after which they change and go to work because they are not professional rugby players," Muthee said.

Muthee made the remarks during the launch of 800,000 U.S. dollar campaign by Guinness in which the Kenyan sevens rugby captain, Andrew Amonde will be a new brand ambassador for the beverage.

The campaign, dubbed "Make it Happen" will inspire the brand's customers in Kenya to pursue their ambitions.

As part of the ten week campaign, Guinness also unveiled popular local musician Jua Cali as brand ambassadors in a move aimed at empowering loyal consumers and will be rolled out on various local radio stations from which they will be rewarded with prizes.

"Amonde is the most successful captain Kenya has ever had because it is during his tenure as skipper of the national team that Kenya attained its best ever place in the IRB Rugby Sevens World Cup," Muthee said.

"He is a man of action, and alongside his teammates, they work very hard. He ought to be an inspiration to many youngsters that they can make good living off rugby," said the chairman.

Kenya ranked fourth at the 2013 IRB Rugby Sevens World Cup that was held in Moscow, Russia when they lost to France in the third place play-off.

The Kenyan captain said the partnership with Guinness is a perfect fit because of the inspirational role it will play to target audience.

"It has not been easy to get where I am and I hope to achieve even more and make my country proud. I hope to get even more motivated from hearing other Kenyans' inspirational stories," he said.

Saying that determination and hunger to succeed are two factors that have contributed to his accomplishment, Amonde told those aspiring to scale higher echelons of the game to embrace discipline as players.

Linda Obado, the Guinness Brand Manager said it is a perfect opportunity to engage with consumers with the help of two very well known individuals who have worked very hard to achieve their dreams and become the creme of the crop in their respective careers.

As we all know by now skateboarding was not a recognized sort when it first began, which is when the metal wheels were made. This was understandable at first since all one could do was roll forward on a skateboard and try not to fall down. For that same reason though nobody really put much effort into skate shoes that offered the support that the skateboarders needed. Not even Nike bothered with skateboarders until it became a popular sport that more than just teens enjoyed.

It wasn?t until sometime in the 1980s that any shoe companies started making skate shoes to target skate boarders. Even then Nike didn?t make Nike skate shoes. It was companies like Airwalk and other smaller companies that worked to make skate shoes for the small sport. However, that doesn?t mean that skateboarders didn?t buy Nike shoes.

Despite the fact that Nike was not yet making their Nike skate shoe line, skate boarders liked using their shoes, especially sport shoes like their basketball shoes. These were what skateboarders used as Nike skate shoes because offered the support that they needed while they were skating. They had the strong grips that were needed, the ankle support, they were fairly comfortable, and most importantly they were made with the durability that the skateboarders needed as their skate shoes in order to perform at their best.

Despite the fact that Nike basketball shoes were good shoes to use as Nike skate shoes many of the skateboarders back then would often reject the idea of using Nike for no reason other than the fact that they were just way to commercial and the skateboarding was supposed to be an underground sport that few people took part in, and most of those people happened to be teenagers.

It wasn?t until the 1990s when skate shoes had already become technical and popular that Nike sent their first Nike skate shoe design out for the public. This rudimentary design failed miserably. It failed because Nike failed to realize just how advanced the other companies had made the skate shoes even though for the most part they were smaller companies than Nike, at least up until this point. By the time they had decided to release their design the technical designs had been the rage, and Nike had to work to adjust the Nike skate shoes to what the other companies where selling.

You will find that today the rage is moving away from the technical designs that were once so very popular in skate shoes are now going out of style, and Nike skate shoes are adjusting easily to this. Because Nike already has some Nike skate shoes that are in the punk-rock style that many skateboarders today are looking for since it reflects the look of the 1970s. Nike?s transition to their new Nike skate shoe look is occurring so easily today because in the late 1990s when the fashion trend started they were able to experiment by re-issuing some of the earlier skate shoe models that they had.
